Antifragility

Antifragile · Антихрупкость · Антифрагильность · Nassim Taleb Antifragile · Things That Gain from Disorder

Not the opposite of fragile. Beyond robust. Antifragile systems benefit from stress, variation, error, and time.

Plain explanation

Fragile = breaks under stress. Robust = withstands stress. Antifragile = gets stronger because of stress. The body's muscles, immune system, ecosystems, evolution - all antifragile. Most modern human systems are either fragile or robust; few are antifragile by design.

Why it matters

Robustness keeps you alive. Antifragility lets you compound. The same shock that ages one system rejuvenates another. Choose your shape on purpose.

Practical example

Lifting weights: small stresses → adaptation → stronger. Skipping the stress: weaker. The body is antifragile to load within limits.

How to use
  1. 1Map your important systems on the triad: fragile / robust / antifragile. Move toward antifragility wherever possible.
  2. 2Build in small, frequent stresses to test components before reality does.
